Powergaming is the the act of using an in-game mechanic, any external information, or a roleplay concept to favor their own character or story, and give them an unfair or unrealistic advantage. Powergaming can take several forms, but it is generally rooted in “playing to win” or a focus on playing the game, instead of honoring the creative roleplay. Playing your character should always be more important than playing the game.
1. Unrealistic Characters
Never create unrealistic characters in order to gain an advantage in roleplay. This includes but is not limited to:
- Roleplaying as gods, demi-gods and other immortals.
- Roleplaying characters with supernatural powers or super-human advantages.
- Acting out accurate psychic or supernatural events that would lead to metagaming.
- “Min-Maxing” character model, size and/or stats in order to have an “optimum” character.
- Using a “mindwipe” to repeatedly set character stats to fit the current need.
- Stacking buffs in specific order to achieve maximum boosts and gain an advantage.
- Never roleplaying fear for your character’s safety and life in the face of direct danger.
- Claiming to be “all knowing” or “ancient” to excuse having excessive knowledge.
1-a. Resurrection Roleplay
Resurrection roleplay requires admin approval. In order to return on a character who was assumed dead, or resurrect a character who has reached perma-death, please submit a permission request.
Never use meta information to “win”, manipulate, or script a certain outcome in roleplay.

This includes but is not limited to:
- Using meta obtained from discord or private communications (“ravens”).
- Using external communications to relay information that cannot be intercepted.
- Using server reporting websites or software to track other player locations.
- Using information obtained through viewing another player’s livestream.
- Using knowledge gathered during playtime on a different character.
Never use the out of character knowledge of gameplay or the server rules to avoid, stop or manipulate the roleplay in your favor.
Never extensively plan roleplay outside of game via chat or DM in a way that will give you or your team an unfair advantage.
Never create a character that is directly connected to your last character in order to force additional roleplay.
3. Forced RP
Never force an action or state on another player without giving them an opportunity to react, or a choice in the situation.
This includes but is not limited to:
- Taking a “sleeper” hostage without permission.
- Claiming to be related to another character without permission.
- Forcing any permanent body mutilation without permission.
- Forcing a character perma-death without permission.
4. Game Mechanics
Never exploit game mechanics, that are unrealistic, to gain an unfair advantage.
This is including but not limited to the following acts:
4-a. Structure Mechanics: Never circumvent locked company structures by using the UI to “pick up” or “demolish” pieces.
4-b. Building Mechanics: Never instantly replace structures during battle, or cover up break-ins with no evidence.
4-c. “Honey combing”: Never honeycomb or reinforce structures with extra pieces in order to maximize defenses.
4-d. Rank Locks: Never use rank locks on tames to either deny their use or hide inventory items.
4-e. Makers Mark Test: Never force a character to craft an item in order to “identify them” by the crafting label.
4-f. Rolling Ownership: Never transfer an old character’s property to a newly re-rolled character by abusing claims.
4-g. Bed Teleporting: Never use beds to teleport or “fast travel” to another location.
4-h. “Vitamin G”: Never request to be killed or kill another player to circumvent survival systems.
4-i. Suicide Escape: Never purposefully kill yourself to avoid or escape the current roleplay.
4-j.Vanity Camera: Never use the ‘vanity camera’ or ‘K Camera’ to manipulate your view and obtain meta information.
4-k. Paintbrush Meta: Never use a paint brush to access and “see” a parked ship’s full sail design.
4-l. Animation Cancelling: Never purposely cancel character animations or actions in order to gain a combat advantage.
4-m. Animation Ghosting: Never abuse animations or emotes in order to glitch, “ghost” or “phase” through solid walls and boundaries.
Remember: Always ask yourself, can I do this in reality? If the answer is no, you probably shouldn’t do it!
