Permadeath or "permanent death" is a game mechanic where upon death, after a player's health reaches zero, the player cannot continue and must restart the game from the beginning. While most roleplay platforms allow for constant player respawn, permadeath is still a character option.
In roleplay, permadeath refers to a player character permanently losing their life and dying in the active storyline, unable to be revived again. Following permadeath, you will lose all associated character property and be unable to return to the universe on this character. Unless required by server rule, players are allowed to freely choose if and when their character reaches permadeath, but players are still expected to roleplay events realistically and perma their characters when appropriate. Remember: All characters are mortal and, occasionally, permadeath is the best option for character stories where a return would seem impossible, illogical or ruin the flow of the surrounding storylines.
Permadeath is a personal story choice unless the character is engaging in illegal, violent or otherwise dangerous activities.
- Players cannot force each other to perma their characters.
- Committing Infamous crimes and violent acts grants perma permission.
- The Royal Navy can permanently execute Infamous players with admin approval.
- Admins can overrule extreme cases and force permadeath through server removal.
